THE GAZE
I had not gone looking for them. They were just there, side by side on a bare branch, completely still in the morning heat — as if they had decided the world could wait. Small but impossible to ignore.
THE PROCESS
Thailand, near Hua Hin, late January 2026.
Two Green Bee-eaters perched together at the edge of a clearing.
Shot with a Nikon Z and Nikkor Z 180-600mm, long focal length to compress the bokeh behind them — the red-orange blur of the background made them glow.

THE RESONANCE
This photograph became the cover of my first and only poetry collection. Every time I look at it I think about the kind of presence that doesn't need to announce itself.
